Saddleworth Football Club is a community-focused, youth football club and soccer school.

Saddleworth football club is a kids and youth amateur mixed football club based in the heart of Saddleworth. Our child football team offers training and football matches for all ages of children ranging from under 7s (child age 6 and age 7), under 8s (child age 7 years and 8years) through to u14 (ages 13 and 14). Our kids soccer players come from a variety of locations in and around Saddleworth including Oldham, Tameside, and east of Greater Manchester. The junior football club caters for all child football levels from beginner and grassroots through to elite kids playing at the higher levels of the EMJFL.

Our kids football club offers mixed team and training sessions, so we have girls and boys playing football within the same junior football teams. The majority of our child football coaches are enrolled in the FA coaching courses to ensure our kids football team, based in Saddleworth, can train and compete at the highest levels in the East Manchester Junior Football League. A large amount of the football training occurs locally in locations based in and around Uppermill, Delph, Dobcross, and Greenfield, and further afield in Mossely, Lees, and Springhead. The weekend child football team matches are played in locations like Ashton Under Lyne, Tameside (at the Tameside Stadium, where Curzon Ashton play), Droylsden Academy in East Manchester and Richmond Academy in Oldham.

The football club is family focused and whilst we don’t play within the Manchester Respect football league, we recognise and practice similar qualities to ensure our children and youth football teams have fun and enjoy playing the sport in a safe environment. A large majority of our FA coaching staff have their children training and playing football at Saddleworth football club so it really creates a welcoming and open, friendly atmosphere. Our club competes in the East Manchester Junior Football league, (similarly to other clubs in the area like Mossley Juniors and Saddleworth 3Ds) which means we offer a fantastic mix of friendly child football matches and elite and high competency youth football.   

Saddleworth Football club used to be called the Saddleworth Strikers Football team, before they rebranded in 2019. Now the Saddleworth Strikers name is used for our Summer Soccer School and Football camp. These events are popular junior football training events for children from Uppermill, Greenfield, Mossely, Lees and Dobcross and other parts of Saddleworth and Tameside, and give child football players a great start to their junior playing careers.

Our child football club normally recruits youth team players from Saddleworth, Tameside and Oldham and we present another viable football club option for children’s football if they have not found success at one of the other local teams such as Saddleworth 3Ds or Stalybridge Celtic. A large majority of our age groups field multiple kids football teams such as our under 9s football team (which is school year 4) our under 10s junior football team (being school year 5) and our junior under 14 football team which is school year 9. 

Each year the football club runs events to raise money for good causes such as our events to raise money for team defibrillators, these events are important to both the social element and the development of football facilities at the junior football club.  As well as recruiting new junior football players Saddleworth football club is always on the lookout for new football coaching talent and assistants who want to help grow the children’s football club and participate in the nurturing of future junior football stars.
