Saddleworth FC has ten junior teams from u6 to u16, with over 150 players and a community of passionate individuals dedicated to nurturing their talent and spirit. Our club provides a safe and supportive environment for children to follow a football pathway, starting with our Academy for 4-year-olds, 5-year-olds and 6-year olds, through to league football, where players develop their skills while also learning valuable life lessons. Introducing David Beresford, SFC Director of Football, April 2025
Saddleworth FC is delighted to announce the appointment of David Beresford as the club's first Director of Football. David brings a wealth of experience and a passion for youth development to our club, which is dedicated to nurturing young talent and fostering a love for the game.
David had an illustrious professional career playing for clubs such as Oldham Athletic, Huddersfield Town, and Hull City. With 236 league appearances, over 80 assists as a flying winger, and 16 caps for England's youth teams, David's expertise and connections within the football community will be invaluable to the club.
In his new role, David will support the progression of our junior teams, assist with coaching, and provide guidance to our coaches. He will also leverage his extensive network of contacts from professional clubs to support our ongoing growth. Most importantly, David is committed to ensuring that our young players continue to have fun while learning to play the game they love.

Football Academy Reborn
The Production Line Is Back...
We are excited to announce the reboot of our football academy, formerly known as Saddleworth Strikers Soccer School. Starting this September, our academy will welcome children four years old, five years old and six years old, aligning with England Football's Play Phase philosophy. This ensures young players learn the skills and rules of the game in a positive, no-pressure environment. The academy marks the beginning of the pathway into league football, making it vital to the club's future.
At our recent open day, we were thrilled to welcome 11 new recruits and some aspiring coaches, who will receive unparalleled support.
The Saddleworth FC Football Academy runs every Saturday morning during the junior season from 9am to 10am. Join us and be part of the exciting journey ahead!
